GUIDELINES FOR ACADEMIC ATHLETE AWARD

PROCEDURE

The Academic Athlete Award is sponsored by the Pennsville Eagles Parents Athletic Association. The organization will provide a certificate in honor of the academic athlete. The certificate will be presented at the sports award assemblies for each respective season. The Academic Athlete’s name will be scrolled on the "Morning Minute" closed circuit television program following each sports award assembly. A bulletin board will be established to post the Academic Athlete’s name and sport. The Academic Athlete’s name and sport will also appear in "The Eagle's Nest."

CRITERIA

The Pennsville Eagles Parents Athletic Association will honor athletes, cheerleaders, and managers participating in a sport who qualify for the A-B honor roll for the marking period concluded in the respective season (i.e. 1st Marking Period - Fall, 2nd Marking Period - Winter, & 3rd Marking Period - Spring). No awards will be made for the 4th Marking Period. Students must complete the season to be eligible unless completion is precluded by injury.

MANPOWER ASSIGNMENTS

The Pennsville Eagles Parents Athletic Association will provide the certificatesfor the Academic Athletes.

The athletic director will provide the necessary data on the students eligible for the award and arrange for the completion of the certificates.

The Pennsville Eagles Parents Athletic Association will work in conjunction with the teacher who is responsible for the "Morning Minute" to ensure the Academic Athlete’s name appears on the closed circuit program. Other methods of recogntion are also permitted.

The Pennsville Eagles Parents Athletic Association will work with the school administration in maintaining a bulletin board listing the Academic Athletes and sport.

The certificates and pins will be distributed at the awards ceremony by a representative of the organization or by a representative of the school at the discretion of the organization.
